Located at 4120 E. Ocean Blvd. Long Beach, CA 90803 (562) 433-9317 "Locally World Famous" is proudly displayed
on both sides of this semi-triangular shaped restaurant. "Home of the Weasel" is also proudly displayed.
Hmmmm, never had a weasel before. Oh, sorry - no "actual" weasel - The Weasel is scrambled eggs, covered
with Chuck's chili. For a little extra $, you can get cheese and onions - a must, if I say so.

Chuck's is open 7 days a week for breakfast & lunch. Especially on busy weekends, Chuck himself is out there
pouring coffee, seating guests and discussing the topic d'jour. Chuck is on the left side of the photo above.

Breakfast is the real deal here. Machaca & eggs is one of my favorites, along with the afore mentioned Weasel. I
also like their Spanish omelet. Mom says the pancakes here are among the best she's had; thin, a little chewy,
not mushy and they hold the syrup well. Other breakfast items are; the Jimmy the Greek omelet, Fisherman's
Special, as well as your standard egg dishes & french toast. Lunch is good, but mainly standard diner type items.
The waiters & waitresses are really on their game here - Chuck demands and ensures quick & courteous service.
Ricky will get you to your table, while Chrissie, Leslie, Kelly or Rea will take your order. This is truly a place where
you'll want to come back over and over - not because the food is the very best, but because of the way you're
treated with respect, consideration and a friendly smile.

One of my favorites. Go for yourself and discover why Chuck's Coffee Shop is "Locally World Famous." Tell 'em

19 different omelets, with names like New Englander, Wanderlust and Queen Maria. Egg Heaven has some exotic
stuff, oh yeah... they even have an omelet called Exotic! Besides these, they have 12 veggie omelets plus 6
scrambles. My favorite omelet is the Monterey. Lot of bacon, sausage, ham, cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers,
avocado, and green onions - covered with sour cream. The cooks here must know their stuff because their
portion sizing of the ingredients is just right. Ever had a Denver omelet, and gotten a piece of bell pepper about
the size of half a pepper? Well, not at Egg heaven. The ingredients all mix well together without losing their own
taste.

Mom & I like their pancakes. She always gets the two-two-two special. The cakes here are done on a griddle, and
are thin enough to get the edges a little crisp. For the big appetites, try "Angel's Specials." The huevos
rancheros, the breakfast burrito or the super browns are too much for me to finish. For lunch try one of the
"Heavenly" burgers, or sandwiches, though their lunch menu doesn't have as much creativity as breakfast. Also
included for lunch are five vegetarian sandwiches and six salads.

Located on the S.W. corner of Ximeno & 4th Street. Street parking only - also cash only. 4358 East 4th Street, Long
Beach, CA (562) 433-9277

Go and celebrate one of the best gifts to man - the egg, at Egg Heaven!

                Schooner or Later, Long Beach

OK, so it’s a play on words – I don’t care. I like this place. A great view, the sea air, excellent food, tip-top service
– Schooner or later is tops! The owners, Denny and Denise Lund or one of their family members are always at the
helm to make sure everything is ship shape! They bought this restaurant in May 12, 1985 and have been teaching
land-lubbers a thing or two about good eats! May they keep on going strong.

OK, on to the food…. er, grub…. er, what do they call food at sea? Well, anyway, Schooner or Later has the
flamboyance in their menu I like to see. Sure, you can get a Denver omelet, but why not try “The Mess?” It’s a
mixture of chopped ham, bell pepper, onions with hash browns and eggs. It’s a lot to eat, but I must admit – it’s
not my cup of tea – I found the flavors get lost in the mix. I prefer the Spanish omelet here over anyone else’s.
Packed inside with seasoned ground beef, covered with cheese and Spanish sauce – it’s irresistible! Mom goes
“overboard” for their pancakes – light, fluffy and delicious. Besides these, Schooner has excellent eggs dishes:
“Captains benedict.” Instead of hollandaise, you’ll get sausage gravy, and bacon, not Canadian bacon. Their crab
& avocado benedict is totally rich and awesome. Denny’s favorite is a good choice as well – scrambled eggs,
cream cheese, red onion and cilantro. It’s simply delicious! Carrie is our favorite waitress here – always with a
ready smile, and a pot of coffee.

Located at: 241 Marina Drive in Long Beach. (562)430-3495 Most major credit cards. Parking is in the same area
where people park to get to their boats. Most of the time it’s OK, but on sunny weekends, it’s tough. Open 6:30
AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday & 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday and Sunday. The outdoor patio really is
awesome. You have a great view of the marina plus the sea air to bring on your appetite.

Johnny Rebs’ – Long Beach: Pre-fire of 2007

If I had only one place to go to eat, I reckon it would be Johnny Rebs' in Long Beach. Unfortunately, they recently
had a fire and won't be opening again for quite a spell. Darn! Johnny Rebs' is not just a place to consume food,
but a place that reminds you of a time where things were uncomplicated and you... I mean... y'all could slow down.
Johnny Rebs is country. I am looking forward top their re-opening. I already miss the place.

Unfortunately, there was a fire that gutted the insides of this fine establishment. They are slated for a re-open in
late April, or early May, 2008. I will post a new photo soon after the re-open.
I have had a few conversations with the employees from Long Beach, and they are very saddened about the fire
and the loss of a great restaurant. However, I know they will come back – better than ever. Here is their website
– check out the link to the Press Telegram for some photos of the fire damage.
http://www.johnnyrebs.com/

They were slated to open on April 28th, but they have a few more health dept. Hoops to jump through.
Here's a photo of the work in progress:

Breakfast at Johnny Rebs is like you went home to your Grand Mother's place - maybe in North Carolina. Fluffy
biscuits, creamy gravy, omelets, BBQ, flapjacks (pancakes for you up north) and one of the best country fried
steaks this side of Dixie. Lunch & dinner.... (Oh, baby!) BBQ baby back ribs, Beef, Pulled Pork, Chicken, Hot links,
Catfish and more. Amber & Noelle are my favorite waitresses, while Roger (the boss) makes sure everyone is
happy.

Johnny Rebs. Located at: 4663 Long Beach Blvd. Phone (562) 423-7327 Well, you can't go here, but y'all can go to
their other stores: Bellflower, Orange & Victorville. (See other pages for the other Johnny Rebs'.

Y'all jus' gotta come on in and sit a spell. Wongo? (Do you want to go?)

Matching Cowboy & Cowgirl lamps, hundreds of photos of people holding signs that read: "Eat at the Potholder",
weird art on the ceiling, one of the most diverse menus in Long Beach, great food, served with top-notch service
is the Potholder Café.

Beth, Moe, Sarah, Maryella and others are always "on their game" to serve you. Open for breakfast & lunch, the
Potholder always pleases. The menu is big! Take your time! Omelets & scrambles like the Nacker Snacker, The
Grand Prix, and the El Matador are favorites. Try the Mr. Potato Head - potato skins stuffed with eggs, chicken,
bacon, and topped avocado, cheese & sour cream. Yum! They have 30+ omelets/scrambled egg dishes as well as
pancakes (Mom likes 'em), French toast and waffles. You could come here for over a month and not eat the same
item twice.

Even though breakfast is the main attraction, the lunch menu has sandwiches like the Turkey Malibu and James's
Polish. Try the Afternoon Delight salad - everything but the kitchen sink - but don't mess with Moe, she might just
throw that in too! On the corner of Broadway & Euclid, street parking only. On weekends it can be a chore to find
a spot, and you will probably wait a while, but it will most indeed be worth it. 3700 E. Broadway, Long beach, (562)

                 Coffee Cup Café, Long Beach

If you know Long Beach, you gotta know Coffee Cup Café! Located at 3734 East Fourth Street, this restaurant is
well known for the quality, diversity and quantity of the food they serve up. Open Monday to Friday; 7AM to 2PM &
Sat & Sun 7AM to 3PM. I'm often intrigued by the artwork hanging on their walls (it's for sale, too!). Recently, many
of the paintings(?) looked like large versions of a toy I had as a kid; "Spin Art", was it? Anyway..... on to the food.

I love menus that have many items to choose from, and even though I've eaten here numerous times - I haven't
tried everything. The "Sunrise Fiesta Bowl" is one I gotta try next I go. It's a bowl of black bean soup with 2 eggs,
poached, pico de gallo, sour cream, avocado & salsa. Choice or tortillas or toast. My favorite is "The Scrambler"
(hi-protein, low carb). 3 eggs with ham, bacon, sausage (pork fat rules!),onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, mush-
rooms, cheddar cheese, avocado & sour cream. Mom gets "The Combo", her basic pancake sandwich. Mom likes
it. Besides these there's omelets & scramblers like "Nate's Favorite", "The Boss' Favorite", "Apple Honey
Sausage Scramble", as well as your basic eggs & _____ favorites. The "Chicken Chile Verde" is a bit spicy for me,
but has a great, authentic flavor. Lunch also shows off their flair with such selections as the "Just Like Pizza
Sandwich", and the  "Coffee Cup Chop Cobb" salad. Vegetarian items are available both for breakfast & lunch.

Street parking only - but be careful! The parking tickets in Long Beach are $$$. Read the signs and park legally.

                    Buster's Beach House, Long Beach

Buster's Beach House is one of those places that you imagine would be really expensive, but is not. A great view
of the Long Beach harbor, top notch service, and great, imaginative foods served with flair.

Mom & I followed a waiter (and all around great guy) here from "The Hotspot Café", also in Long Beach. Heidi, the
owner sold the business, but we were put "in the know" by Mike, (now known as)
Michael. Well, Buster's is a
higher class place than the Hotspot. Mike (Michael), Sandy, Lorre and Vicente always take excellent care of us -
we feel like royalty. Located at 168 Marina Drive., Long Beach (562) 598-9431
www.BustersBeachHouse.com

Mom goes for the "222 Breakfast Special." Pancakes, eggs, sausage & bacon - for only $5.99 I go for the "Surfari
Skillet." A mix of eggs, cheese, bacon, onions, bell peppers, pork sausage & diced ham. Usually served over
Buster's potatoes. (Not for me - I'm doin' good cutting down on the carbs.) Buster's has a good quantity of regular
breakfast items such as steak & eggs, Belgian waffle and pancakes. But I love the extra variety of items like: The
"Baja K38 Skillet" and the "Todo Loco Pipeline." Maybe I'll talk Mom into that Belgian waffle on our next visit -
Hey! I can have a few carbs, now & then, can't I ?! You can also choose to make your own omelet from a good-
sized list of ingredients.

Lunch & Dinner are replete with great choices too! Half Moon Bay Cioppino, Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Mount
Kilauea Meatloaf Sandwich, Macadamia Nut Crusted Chicken, Balinese Baby Back Ribs - just to name a few.
I'm
getting hungry writing this.
I hope I have inspired you to get away from the hustle & bustle of the "cookie-cutter"
restaurants, put on your board shorts and surf your way to Buster's
